What is the maximum deposit amount guaranteed by SwissCaution?
- The commitment is limited to CHF 15'000.-
I already have a bank deposit. Can I release it today?
- Yes, you can establish a SwissCaution rental guarantee at any time and also recuperate the capital deposited at your bank.
I’m moving, how do I terminate my guarantee?
- The lessor’s guarantee certificate must be returned to us in order to release the guarantee. This will remove your obligation to pay the annual premium.
If your lessor has claims against you and if you agree, SwissCaution will directly pay claims. You must then reimburse SwissCaution the amount paid to your lessor.
PS: Don’t forget to contact your insurer (RC/household insurance) who could take care of these costs.
To obtain the guarantee on your new apartment more quickly, fill in the SwissCaution new rental guarantee request as it consists of a new lease contract.
What is the quality of the guarantee from SwissCaution?
- SwissCaution is an insurance company subject to contract insurance law and therefore controlled by by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). SwissCaution SA also offers the same guarantees as a bank.
Is it possible to guarantee a commercial lease?

Does the lessor have the right to refuse the SwissCaution guarantee?
- Conforming to the article 257e al1 of the Code of Obligations, which defines the type of guarantee authorized by the law, the renter has the right to freely choose the form of guarantee.
How long am I tied to my SwissCaution guarantee?
- You can terminate your guarantee at any time without justification or charges. You need only to provide your lessor with a substitute guarantee of the same amount and same quality. Your lessor must return the cancelled guarantee to us.
